July 27, 2006 Editorial - NAS Review of 2003 Reassessment

The National Academies of Science released its long awaited review of the Environmental Protection Agency's 2003 Exposure and Human Health Reassessment of 2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-Dioxin (TCDD) and Related Compounds.  Shortly thereafter, the Midland Daily News posted an editorial by a well known critic of the EPA.  The Op-Ed did not provide a balanced perspective on the Reassessment and failed to note, among many things, that the NAS agreed with the majority of the Reassessment including a unanimous agreement that TCDD is a "likely human carcinogen", a classification that has significant public health implications.
